I'M SAVED!! hmm.

I still have people ask me if 'I'm Saved'. Or you're hear the christian catch-phrase 'I got saved'. But when I'm asked I have to refrain from answering in the way I might have when I was a zealous new believer in Jesus Christ. 'I'm Saved!'. It seems that our ego is in play, even with our salvation, that we've come to a point of taking the true focus off of the act of salvation and put it on ourselves. Afterall, what is being saved? It's a change of mind, to accept the redeeming action of our God, His sacrifice on the cross, and the attoning blood that covers our sins... sins lest we forget that would have kept us from the prize of eternal life with God in the first place, had He not loved us enough to establish the plan of salvation from the beginning.. and our sins, that He took upon Himself that we would not pay the ultimate price for them because He loves us. We did nothing of ourselves to boast in such a manner as saying 'I GOT SAVED!'... you didn't do it, God did. And the problem comes into play, when Ego turns to pride, then pride turns to arrogance and we lose sight of our humble position we're actually in.
By grace are you saved, through faith, and not by works lest any man should boast. I would think it better to answer the question of 'are you saved?' with, 'I am a believer in Jesus Christ'. Anything else is a useless answer.

Peace,
Chris
