History Making Faith

I am sitting here at my computer, pondering if sitting in church attendance on Sunday morning is just as useless on the grand scale of time and history as my own ranting. Will my blog be recognized by mass media, changing hearts and minds of its readers in favor of a simple faith in Christ? Will our Sunday morning worship be so incredible that it makes the CNN headline news, having enough controversy to make the history books? On the day of my writing this, Friday Sept 26th, there's plenty of history. Example: All Jewish people were expelled from England by royal decree on this day in 1290, thanks to the "Christian fervour" of King Edward. Today is also known as "St John's Day", named after the fisherman, apostle and possible Gospel writer. He is known as the only one of the 12 apostles who died of natural causes. His last recorded words were, "Little children, love one another."
In a thousand years, will what I do today to further the cause of Christ be remembered? Will our worship be worthy of a blurb in a yet to be written history book?

Take a chance and break out of the box of tradition. Do something radical for God.

Jesus - Breakfast of Champions

Ok, so I'm sitting in the local I-Hop over the weekend. I get seated in a booth next to a nice older couple. They are talking alot about business, finances, money moving, stock options, buy-outs. Before long I get the picture that these two are money hungry and very savvy business types. Thier meal arrives, and they bow thier heads to pray.. and not just one of those punk little 'God is great, God is good let us thank Him for this Food' kinda prayers. He prayed. It was eloquent. I had a change of heart for a minute. 'Hmm, maybe I misread this money hungry bastard and his wife'. Sure enough, as they were quietly eating breakfast a friend walks up talking about church, and then real estate. The guy begins to brag to his friend he's looking for a modest home in his price range - you know, 1.2 million or so. He then procedes to belittle the I-hop staff, the poor girl serving them had no chance for redemption in thier eyes. They left, leave a rather modest tip for such a wealthy tycoon as he was, or thought he should be.

Problem? We serve one God. He provides what we need in life. Why are we so compelled to bust our butts for the cause of a dollar, (that also means you, tv evangelist types!) rather than our humble position in Christ? Some will reply, "but wouldn't God want to bless His children with abundance?" Of course He does, if we're not so self centered as to mis-manage His funds.

Jesus said this, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"

Stop being so greedy. Just live and be happy.
