Fish Bowl

Today marks the anniversary of one year of writing articles for my website. I pondered what to write, since this message should have some impact being the one year mark article, right? Then it hit me. I wonder if we don't realize it sometimes - if we've grown past who we were a year ago. If we've changed or developed new skills. A rut is a bad thing to be in. It's like a goldfish. If you keep a goldfish in a small container for a long time, it knows only the invisible boundaries of the glass world we put it in - but dump that same goldfish into a big aqarium, and it will swim in small circles, not knowing that there's a huge expanse of real estate available to it. We do this to ourselves. God never puts these limitations on anyone. But we put ourselves there for security, because the unknown is a scary place.. to be avoided rather than challenged. It is only the rare few who step outside of themselves and look around once in a while that get the big picture. And sometimes we put our faith in the same jar, and never venture outside the boundaries of our church doctrines, dogma, declarations of faith, comforting scriptures on the walls, etc.

So, if when you read this, you identify with the goldfish in the small jar... I urge you to take a leap of faith. Step out of the box of tradition and what you know, hold fast to the basics of truth, and then go on an adventure into uncharted territory.

Who would'a thought that 'Finding Nemo' was a spiritually motivating movie.

Peace
Chris
