Freedom
Freedom
I am reminded of the scene in Braveheart, where William Wallace was on the chopping block, and it looked like his torturers had won. The king says 'The prisoner wishes to say a word...' and in a moment of silence, gathering what strength remained he yelled "FREEEEDOM!" much to the dismay of the crowd and his compatriots there watching. The deed was done. The path was chosen.
Much like this I find myself with a feeling of freedom of breaking the bondage of Christianity in my life. The corporate complex of hyper faith bible believers, which has nothing to do with how our Messiah wanted us to worship. Like the Matrix (sorry, another movie reference) where Neo's program had been changed, and he awakes in a caccoon hooked to the machine, and the machine rejects him - disconnecting him from their system.. and he breathes his first real unhindered uncontrolled breath.
It's fulfilling, powerful, awe inspiring - the feeling, the weight of oppression lifted from my shoulders to renounce the title of Christian. It's a made up word, and I will from this point call myself and be known as 'A believer in the Messiah'. But I will not claim that title which puts so many millions into a cult-like bondage, and false religious ferver, emotional high, and singing of harmonic hymns designed to lull its audience into a trance-like open state. I will open my wallet no longer for the plate being past to pay the pastors salary and the light bill, but for the plate in need of food, or those in true need. I will study on my own and allow the Holy Spirit to guide me, rather than the dictation and preparation of a cookie cutter preacher, teacher or evangelist. I choose the old way, the original way, the original name for the original game in play. The Messiah, first born of God, annointed savior comes back soon for a 'remnant', not a planet full of white shirt wearing zombies chanting his name and swaying back in forth in fleshly worship.
AHHHH! The liberation and the freedom of being a believer in the Messiah.
Break free of the yoke of oppression, His way is easy - and His burden is light.
Chris
