Alone in a Huge Crowd
I can tell that the majority of us here are of one mind when it comes to the purity of the truth we seek, and the race we run. The values we uphold aren't even popular with the mainstream of our belief system. We stand as outcasts of our own faith.. holding fast to the core of what Christianity is - and I have to say, this is a lonely business we're in. Popularity was never a perk of following our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He even tells us by His own words that " if you follow Me, strap yourself in - it's going to be a wild ride." and it doesn't make us popular, loved, or otherwise by the majority.
At first glance I saw the idea of the Passion movie a great achievement. I was even kind of anxious to see it I must admit, to see if it held true to the gospels. but never could because it's been sold out every day here since it's release. Scary. Everyone I saw at work or otherwise who went to see the movie for themselves came back awe-inspired, red in the face from crying their eyes out during the visually descriptive nightmare of the death of Jesus. After the emotional effects of the movie wore off, I could not determine a change of heart in any of them. It was just an immediate reaction to the shock and horror they saw on the big screen, a Christian R rated shock movie complete with blood and gore... conciousness seared with a hot iron...
The next day people talked about it, almost as if they survived going skydiving and lived to tell about it. But they were very much themselves, no dramatic revival took place apparently. But they ask, 'Chris have you seen the passion yet?' to which I reply "Nope.." And they look at me amazed. How dare he call himself a Christian and a follower of Jesus if he hasn't taken the time to go watch Jesus' movie.
Anyhow, as I said in the subject line - we stand alone in a huge crowd. In a mass of humanity that with their lips they confess great things, but thier minds are closed, and eyes fixed, ears plugged, and a thick rope about their neck. And the noose it tightening every day.
Be watchful brothers and sisters.
Always be looking for the enemy when you bend your knee to drink.
